Paused

Farasis Bitterfeld-Wolfen is Farasis Energy's batteries and solar project at Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany.

Why it matters

Work has stopped, and the reason is in its history below.

Where Farasis Bitterfeld-Wolfen is

Farasis Bitterfeld-Wolfen is paused, and this register holds no position for it. It was to be at Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany; the works was never placed to the precision a mark on a picture would claim, and looking for one was not thought worth doing on a project that stopped.

LOCATION NOT SOUGHT: PROJECT PAUSED. The perimeter asks for a site the company has confirmed and a citable source can place, and the second half is research that only pays for itself on a works somebody might visit. Nothing was ever built on the Solar Valley plot, the town has taken its urban development contract back, and the company has postponed rather than ended the project. What would be bought by finding the parcel is a dot a reader would take for a building. The absence is recorded as a decision rather than left as a gap: this register looks for a position on projects that are being built, and says so where it has not looked.

  • 2022-05-23PausedPAUSED AND NOT CANCELLED, and the distinction is the company's own words. Farasis told the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung 'wir die Konkretisierung unserer Pläne für den Standort Bitterfeld-Wolfen vorläufig zurückgestellt haben' — the concretisation of the plans is provisionally set aside. Bitterfeld-Wolfen had already terminated the städtebaulicher Vertrag, and the mayor said the factory will not come as planned and that the town is working with Farasis on alternatives. THIRD PARTIES CALL IT CANCELLED AND THIS ROW DOES NOT: a municipality ending a contract is the municipality's act, a headline is a headline, and neither is the company saying it has stopped. Nothing was ever built. The row moves to cancelled the day Farasis says so, and not before.source

Technology and measures

  • Gigafactory-scale cell manufacturingcommercialElectrode coating, cell assembly and formation run at gigawatt-hour scale on one site. It is the process node rather than a chemistry: the same lines make several chemistries, and what decides whether Europe has cells is whether the lines exist and yield, not which cathode runs through them.

Funding

No public capital recorded for this project.
